Nkhoma on target in Mazembe win

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)-based Malawian forward Lanjesi Nkhoma was on target for his club TP Mazembe as they beat Lubumbashi FC 2-0 on Sunday.

According to TP Mazembe Facebook Page, the former FCB Nyasa Bullets forward scored the second goal in the 57th minute when he pounced on a rebound to seal Mazembe’s victory.

The goal took his tally to four in the league.

The win saw the former African club champions maintain their grip at the top of the 16-team league with 52 points from 19 matches, four points ahead of second-placed Saint Eloi Lupopo, who have played three games less.

Barely a minute after scoring, Nkhoma was substituted alongside his compatriot Patrick Mwaungulu.

In an interview yesterday, Nkhoma said he was delighted to score.

“I hope I can keep up the good form and help Mazembe win the title because we are heading towards a crucial stage,” he said.

“Of course, it is tight, considering that Lupopo have three games in hand, but we will keep pushing as it is not guaranteed that they will win all these matches.”
